It’s a classic Italian fernet – the boldest, most bracing style of amaro – built on a closely guarded blend of more than forty herbs, roots and spices, from a recipe that traces back to Domenico Vittone in 1842.
The flavour is unapologetically bittersweet and layered: a rush of cooling menthol and fresh mint up front, darker notes of molasses, mocha and caramel underneath, and a backbone of baking spice – clove, cardamom and nutmeg. It’s intense, aromatic and made for grown-up palates.
