Product Description
Salignac VS is classic French Cognac – a grape brandy distilled and aged in the Cognac region of southwest France and bottled at 40% ABV. The house was founded in the town of Jarnac in 1809 and carries a genuine pedigree (it sits today within the Courvoisier family). The VS on the label means the spirit has been aged for a minimum of two years in French oak.
Salignac does one thing a little differently. Where most houses blend their cognacs after ageing, Salignac “marries” its young eaux-de-vie together first and then ages them as one – a method that gives the spirit a notably smooth, harmonious character. Expect a nose of vanilla, oak and raisin, a palate of caramel and ripe grape, and a soft, gently spiced finish.
Easy to enjoy and easy on the wallet, it’s an excellent everyday cognac and a smart way into the category. Sip it neat or over ice, stir it into a Sidecar or Brandy Alexander, or pour it alongside a square of dark chocolate.
