The 1000 Stories Chardonnay takes a classic California white and finishes it in seasoned bourbon barrels, the same approach that made the 1000 Stories brand known for its bourbon-barrel-aged wines. The result is a richer, bolder Chardonnay that keeps its fruit while picking up the warm, toasty signature of the barrel.
Flavor Profile
Quintessential Chardonnay notes of pear, baked apple, pineapple, and peach lead the palate, with a touch of Viognier in the blend adding a lift of tropical fruit. The bourbon barrels weave in a warm thread of charred vanilla, toasted caramel, dried herbs, and cedar, building to a creamy, vanilla-caramel finish.
How It Is Made
The wine is aged in a combination of French and American oak, with a portion finished in seasoned bourbon barrels before the final blend is assembled. A portion is also fermented in oak barrels, which lends the wine its signature creamy texture and rounded mouthfeel.
