    Product Description

Situated along Scotland’s northeastern coast, the Glenglassaugh Distillery has a rich history dating back to 1875. After periods of dormancy, the distillery has re-emerged, presenting a revitalized range that includes the standout ‘Sandend’ Single Malt Scotch Whisky.

This expression pays homage to the distillery’s coastal surroundings, particularly the picturesque Sandend Bay. The whisky undergoes maturation in a combination of ex-bourbon, sherry, and the seldom-used manzanilla sherry casks. The inclusion of manzanilla casks—a dry, coastal sherry—introduces delicate notes of chamomile and almonds, enhancing the whisky’s maritime character.

Upon pouring, the whisky exhibits a bright golden hue. The nose is greeted with aromas of buttery fudge, vanilla ice cream, and candied mango, complemented by hints of salted papaya and tropical fruits like pineapple and papaya. The palate unfolds with flavors of honey-sweetened ginger cookies, creamy barley, and a touch of dry wood, reminiscent of driftwood. The finish is long and warming, leaving impressions of grapefruit, juicy berries, and a subtle coastal breeze.

Bottled at 50.5% ABV, this non-age statement single malt delivers a robust yet approachable profile. Its complexity and balance have earned it accolades, including being named Whisky Advocate’s 2023 Whisky of the Year.

Whether enjoyed neat, with a splash of water, or over ice, Glenglassaugh ‘Sandend’ offers a versatile and rewarding experience. Its coastal nuances and layered flavors make it a compelling choice for those seeking a distinctive Highland single malt.

Embrace the coastal elegance of Glenglassaugh ‘Sandend’—a whisky that captures the spirit of its seaside origins with every sip.
