Product Description
Salcheto Obvius Rosso di Toscana brings together the heritage of Tuscan Sangiovese with a forward-looking, low-intervention approach to winemaking. Produced by Salcheto, a benchmark organic estate in Montepulciano, this red is labeled “neo natural” because it’s made without added sulfites and with minimal manipulation, yet with exacting control over stability, freshness, and consistency vintage after vintage.
The wine is sourced from organically farmed Sangiovese vines in the “Greppo” vineyards near Abbadia di Montepulciano. Grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and quickly moved to the cellar, where they are fermented in custom CO₂-based tanks designed to protect the fruit from oxidation and reduce the need for additives. After fermentation, Obvius Rosso rests for about four months in stainless steel and a further six months in bottle, a regimen that preserves bright fruit, fine tannins, and a clean, modern profile.
In the glass, expect a vivid ruby color and an inviting nose of red cherry, cranberry, and raspberry, layered with hints of dried herbs, subtle spice, and a gentle earthy note typical of quality Tuscan Sangiovese. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and dry, with juicy red fruit at the core, refreshing acidity, and tannins that are firm enough for food but not aggressive. The finish is precise and lifted rather than heavy, making this a wine you can enjoy over the course of an evening without fatigue.
Obvius Rosso di Toscana is built for the table. Its bright acidity and moderate alcohol (around 13.5%) make it a natural match for tomato-based pasta, wood-fired pizza, grilled sausages, roast chicken, burgers, and antipasti platters with cured meats and semi-hard cheeses. The screwcap closure adds practical convenience: it’s an ideal “house red” to keep on hand, easy to open for a weeknight dinner or a last-minute gathering.
