Product Description
Osmote “This Red Is A Pet Nat” is a sparkling red that flips the usual script on what bubbles are supposed to look like. Made in New York’s Finger Lakes, this is a deeply colored, dark purple Pét-Nat with electric fuchsia foam and a cloud of juicy fruit aromatics the moment you pop the crown cap.
The blend leans on Leon Millot and Marquette, older-generation hybrid grapes that thrive in the region’s cool climate, supported by Cabernet Franc for structure and a subtle savory edge. Together they deliver an expressive mix of blue and red fruits: think plum, blueberry, raspberry and tangy cherry, layered with floral violet notes, a touch of mint, and a faint woodsy, chocolatey undertone.
On the palate, “This Red Is A Pet Nat” is deceptively serious under all that fun fizz. The wine is medium-bodied but feels lifted and refreshing thanks to high acidity and lightly chalky tannins that keep it dry and focused from first sip to finish. Expect a lively, slightly wild texture that natural-wine fans will love, there’s just enough savory intrigue and edge to balance all that ripe fruit, without losing drinkability.
Osmote works with low-intervention, slow winemaking: native yeast fermentations and a gentle touch in the cellar are used to let the site and grape varieties speak for themselves. The Pétillant Naturel method means the bubbles come from a single fermentation finished in the bottle, giving a more rustic, energetic style of sparkle compared with traditional Champagne-method wines. Alcohol sits around the low-to-mid 12% range depending on vintage, making it an easy bottle to share over the course of an evening.
“This Red Is A Pet Nat” is incredibly versatile at the table. Serve it well-chilled and pour it alongside charcuterie, fried chicken, burgers, pizza, grilled vegetables, smoky barbecue, or anything with tomato sauce. Its bright fruit profile and tannin-acid combo also make it a playful match for chocolate-and-raspberry desserts or rich, gooey brownies.
If you’re looking for a red that drinks like a party, serious enough for wine nerds, but fun and approachable enough for everyone at the cookout, Osmote “This Red Is A Pet Nat” is your go-to bottle.
