Naveran Perles D’or Cava is a benchmark example of what modern Cava can be when quality is the only priority. Produced by Caves Naveran, a family estate founded in 1901, this sparkling wine comes entirely from their own organically farmed vineyards in the Alt Penedès, about half an hour from Barcelona. The wine is crafted from 100% Xarel·lo, a local grape that thrives in the region’s Mediterranean climate and clay-limestone soils, bringing structure, salty freshness, and age-worthy character.
Perles D’or is made using the traditional method, the same process used for Champagne, with a secondary fermentation in the bottle and extended aging on the lees for a minimum of 24 months.
This long time in bottle is what creates the wine’s fine, persistent mousse and layers of complexity. In the glass, it shows a pale lemon hue and a lively stream of tiny bubbles. The nose opens with golden currant, vanilla, and honeysuckle, followed by ripe peach, green apple, and lemon. On the palate, it’s dry but creamy in texture, combining bright citrus and orchard fruit with notes of brioche and toasted almond. The finish is long, with citrus zest and a distinct saline edge that keeps you reaching for another sip.
