Product Description
Faule Langhe Rosato is Attilio Ghisolfi’s fresher, more whimsical take on Nebbiolo, crafted in the hills of the Langhe in Piedmont, northern Italy. The wine sits within the Langhe DOC and comes from estate vineyards around Monforte d’Alba, an area better known for serious reds like Barolo but increasingly admired for precise, food-friendly rosé.
The blend is predominantly Nebbiolo (70%), supported by Barbera (30%). The vines range from 5 to 30 years old and are planted at 300–400 meters above sea level on marly, calcareous soils, conditions that naturally favor high acidity, aromatic finesse, and a clean, mineral profile in the finished wine.
In the cellar, the grapes undergo approximately 24 hours of cryomaceration at very low temperatures, followed by a gentle press. Fermentation continues at controlled cool temperatures in stainless steel to preserve the purity of fruit and floral aromatics. The result is a wine that shows as a very pale pink, tending toward classic “onion skin” rosato, with striking clarity in the glass.
Faule Langhe Rosato offers finely detailed aromas: cherry blossom, violets, and small red fruits, layered with subtle herbal nuances. The palate is fully dry, with soft texture, bright acidity, and a savory, saline edge that keeps each sip crisp rather than sweet. Citrus notes, think pink grapefruit and a hint of blood orange, add lift, while a light natural spritz gives extra refreshment and makes the wine particularly appealing as a warm-weather option.
At 13% ABV, Faule has enough structure to stand up to food without feeling heavy. It’s especially well suited to shellfish, crudo, grilled shrimp, and simply prepared white fish, but it also works with light risottos, salads, and antipasti boards where you want one bottle to carry through the meal.
The name “Faule,” taken from the Piedmontese word for “fairytales,” captures what this wine is about: telling a softer, more approachable story of Nebbiolo without losing its regional identity. For customers, that translates to a highly versatile, characterful rosé, serious enough for enthusiasts, but easy-drinking and refreshing enough for casual weeknight dinners, picnics, and aperitivo hours alike.
